Ola G @Ollie1972 Aug 10 Anna Heymes (Arly Jover), a stylish 31-year-old Parisian housewife, who experiences nightmares and hallucinations related to a series of gruesome murders in the city. At the same time, a duo of policemen, the unorthodox Schiffer (Jean Reno) and the cautious officer Nerteaux (Jocelyn Quivrin), work to unravel the mystery surrounding the murders. The plot thickens when Anna discovers that she has been subjected to intensive reconstructive surgery, which concealed her Turkish heritage. A series of events escalates into a confrontation with the Turkish mafia and the death of Anna's would-be assassin... "L'empire Des Loups" is based on the book with the same name by author Jean-Christophe Grangé and this is a messy, dark, gratuitous violent, plotholed and wobbly production in my eyes. The acting is not on spot from several of the actors and the storyline is just farfetched and has a quite prejudiced structure. Jean Reno used to be such a great actor and nowadays he stars in these sort of gritty action flicks seemingly playing the same character again and again. See more 01/17/2020 i give five stars because the acting is really good in this movie but the story really messed with my head, gave me nightmares...so i give five stars. the best thing about this movie though is how its filmed...in true sequence there is no lapse in time jumping to the next day and characters show up bruised and battered and no time outs. its very fluid and has a very rel life feel to it.. Jean Reno plays a cop ruthless and unpredictable. Jocelyn Quivrin steals the show and sadly in looking him up I discovered he tragically passed away. The subject matter is dark and twisted, when a movie leaves you feeling this uncomfortable it deserves 5 stars ....its not for everyone...very violent subject matter. but 5 stars for acting and cinematography/ production... Somehow, the two stories have an underground organisation in common, but the film obviously opted for the visual appeal rather than the narrative one, as the screenplay feels deeply flawed and the pace of the film contributes to its absolute mess.
