Movie Info

Ernesto "Che" Guevara's futile, eleven month attempt to incite revolution in Bolivia forms the foundation of this documentary from director Richard Dindo. On October 9, 1967, the Bolivian army, aided by the CIA, executed the prominent revolutionary. But while they had taken Guevara's life, his spirit - and his message - lived on. Guevara kept a detailed diary of his time in Bolivia, and that diary forms the foundation of this film. Interviews with Bolivians who met Guevara in his final days mix with excerpts from the iconic revolutionary's personal memoirs offer a vivid account of everything from his relationship with the mysterious Tania to his betrayal at the hands of local peasants and his ongoing struggle with asthma. A remarkable portrait of the controversial icon who lived and died by his own ideals.
