Audience Reviews for Escape from Zahrain

nonsensical tale of an Arab rebel chief fleeing through wild country from a villainous colonial government never rises above the level of a comic strip, and provides dialogue to match.

★★1/2 (out of four) A fair adaption from the novel by Michael Barret entitled "Appointment in Zahrain". It offers some exciting moments, but the plot is too thin and uneventful to carry an entire 90 minute movie. Yul Brynner plays a prisoner about to be executed in the middle east. He is broken out on the way to his execution by an activist student (Sal Mineo) and an american (Jack Warden). They all take a hostage (Madelyn Rhue) and head for the border. A chase ensues. Not a lot wrong with it, but it's not very memorable. Brynner, Mineo, Warden, and Rhue are all good, but their characters never find their footing. [IMG][/IMG]
