Not quite as dramatic as the description says, in some ways, but I liked it. I'm being a little generous with my rating, though. It's just rare to find a clean movie with a strong yet gentle hero who has a father's heart.
An ex-Confederate captain heads west with his young daughter and is caught up in the skirmishes between soldiers and Indians. Ben Lassiter rescues two sisters at a massacre site and guides them to safety after several Indian attacks and treachery from two renegade soldiers intent on stealing the army payroll. Beth Drury has an eye on widower Lassiter who is constantly attacked verbally by her sister Martha for supporting the rebel cause. Victor Mature and Faith Domergue are the big names in this cast but film has little pace and the action is spotty.
