I went prepared to be scared, and woke up sleep-walking two nights in a row after I saw it. Isn't that what horror movies are supposed to do?

It's a little longer and a little more concerned with story. Its bark has grown though, and there's still no serious challenger to its title of 'The Greatest Horror Movie Ever Made'.

The Exorcist (1973) is the sensational, shocking horror story about devil possession and the exorcism of the demonic spirits from a young, innocent girl (of a divorced family)

there's something elemental about The Exorcist, even with the new hopeful ending that betrays the bleak original.

There is no doubting this is a traumatic film, but whether or not you enjoy it will depend on what you're looking for.
