Audience Reviews for Fall of Eagles
Made in the '70's by BBC, apart from a few quality issues, this 13-part series still stands up with time. The overwhelmingly important thing about the series is the amount of history it includes. Three of Queen Victoria's grandchildren come to be the last autocratic rulers of Germany, Russia and Austria. Because of their inability to accept parliamentary systems as Victoria had in England, they made terrible choices due to their remoteness from problems of the countries they ruled. A fourth source of power is embodied in Lenin, played by Patrick Stewart in fine rug-chewing fashion. Lenin's WWI relationship with Germany is interestingly depicted. Very fine acting and writing throughout, with historical footage. We couldn't stop with just one, but viewed several per sitting. Particularly recommended for history buffs, and anyone who enjoys good period drama.
