Movie Info

A mother and daughter attempt to conquer Las Vegas in this domestic drama co-directed by Brian J. De Palma and Russ Brandt. Emily (Brittany Murphy) and Reese Nicholson (Karen Allen) moved to Las Vegas with the intention of fulfilling Reese's dream of becoming a singer. However, their financial obligations force Reese into becoming involved in the dark underbelly of Sin City. Further complicating matters is Reese's alcoholism, which frequently forces Emily to play a maternal role with her own mother. Emily begins to realize that a fresh start is more complicated than she first thought, though reaching the goals that she and her mother had set for themselves are not entirely out of reach.

Audience Reviews for Falling Sky

Emily's mom runs away from life and stops in Vegas to find another which is just a bad as the one she left because she chooses to make it that way. It affects her daughter who has tried to help her but is unable to stop the drunkenness. So, after her mom commits suicide, Emily starts down the same path, but stops short of death. A teen movie about teens, for teens, with teens, who have a horrible life, so they think, because their parent has a horrible life. If you've got nothing else to do, watch this time waster.

If you like tear jerkers, this one is for you. If you have ever dealt with suicide, this one is for you. I hate tear jerkers but this is one film that is outstanding. It was genuine and not unrealistic like a lot of movies. this movie is true to what people go through living with an alcoholic and/or dealing with suicide. The acting in this movie was fantastic.

A potent film about a young girl who has to decide whether to take the path her alcoholic mother took or find a better way. If it wasnt for what happened at the very end, I wouldnt have liked this film as much.
