The magical aspects and visuals are appealing, but the film is clunky and awkward. Fans of the Potter Universe will no doubt go to see it but shouldn't expect it to be as inviting as the first film.

The Crimes of Grindelwald's strength lies in the character dynamics.

There's something to love about this unruly creature. Thanks to a script from Rowling herself, there's a creativity and wit you won't see in the average fantasy movie. With plenty of character reveals, cameos and references, it's a must for fans.

World building and plot seeding sometimes bogs down this entertaining and imaginative sequel to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

November 27, 2018
The immense wonder of the Potterverse lingers but the bulk of Grindelwald feels like two movies haphazardly sewn together and the camera is far too interested in the wrong side of this creation.

The visuals in The Crimes Of Grindelwald are gorgeous, and probably even better than its predecessor.

A well acted, if ultimately lacklustre sequel.
