I will always defend as much as possible this impossible but amazing mix of 'Lost' (the series) and 'First Dates' (the program), a delirious idiot comedy with the scent of the best worst genre of the 90s. [Full Review in Spanish]

Questions beget more questions, which leads to a plot ridden with absolute inanity.

A decision by filmmakers to fully turn the Fantasy Island concept into a half-cocked horror movie buys the entire doomed enterprise a one-way ticket to the bottom of the barrel.

The original show is such a simple, robust conceit that there was plenty of space and opportunity to do a contemporary reboot, but this Fantasy Island is no narrative dream destination.

Ultimately, Fantasy Island suffers because it utterly fails to follow through on its promise...if this is the best you can do in terms of your fantasies, you are sadly lacking in imagination.

Equal parts poorly acted, poorly directed, and poorly written, the film's bloodless PG-13 rating hinders its potential even further. This is a really bad movie.

It wanders in all directions, it takes a great deal of desperate writing to twist around and explain who's the actual bad guy, and the production design and costuming is disappointing.

[T]his supernatural horror flick is an unnecessary, bewildering overhaul.

The final third is a massive disaster that's bewildering in its narrative ineptitude.

Tried to make a horror movie out of the old TV show but only ended up making a horror-ble movie. Ricardo Montalban is not amused.

Fantasy Island is ridiculous and trashy to the point that it feels like a soap opera. This is the type of PG-13 horror film that gives the genre a bad name and turns horror fans away from the theater. Blumhouse is certainly better than this.

Horror reboot of '70s TV series is violent, cheesy fun.

Maybe Blumhouse should have invited some guests (and some screenwriters) to the island that have more inventiveness than a reality show contestant. [Full review in Spanish]

Paradoxically, its lack of pretension is what saves the film. [Full Review in Spanish]

You can see every scare coming from a mile away.

I was kind of impressed that they were all making a legit attempt at making a Fantasy Island movie, until it became an overblown, very convoluted slasher flick, and then I got bored.

While the characters can be interesting representations of the ideas the film wants to explore, by the end they get stuck in action scenes that feel recycled from countless other low grade thrillers.
February 18, 2020
By the time this "Fantasy Island" arrives at its gallingly stupid final twist, you'll be dying to go home.
February 18, 2020
If only "Fantasy Island" were to convey real suspense, actual thrills or shocking horror. Instead it plods along, an academic exercise in connecting dots, imagining backstories and offering greeting card bromides.

'This place doesn't suck,' someone observes early on. If only.
