Most of the film plays out like a smarter, stylized distillation of the essential Fast and the Furious tropes...

Big, dumb and full of charm, Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw is a super-sized blockbuster that proves you can succeed with excess.
August 8, 2019
Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast & Furious universe.
August 8, 2019
Hobbs and Shaw is not the franchise's strongest entry but it is one of its silliest and most fun.

This high-spirited summer action extravaganza delivers precisely what it promises: two great personalities, great stunts, and a little something extra.

Hobbs & Shaw is big and dumb, yes, but it is also undeniably entertaining...even if you're not quite sure why any of this is even happening. And really, is there a more apt representation of the summer blockbuster?

Hobbs & Shaw is a non-stop thrill ride, and a ridiculous one at that.
August 7, 2019
There's definitely a lot of cheesy moments, but it fits perfectly with the over-the-top rivalry.

Mindless energizing entertainment. It doesn't live up to the fun of "The Fast and Furious" franchise family but it is an okay cousin.

This being a Fast & Furious movie, we also have some ridiculous car chases and some amazing stunts. It's basically a fireworks display with punching. It's also a lot of fun.

Whether grimly injecting herself with the virus, bantering with Hobbs or hanging onto a truck like a thrilled kid on a roundabout, Hattie is dynamite. I took a 10-year-old boy to the screening and she was his favourite character.
August 5, 2019
It's deeply corny, but a lot of fun.
August 5, 2019
The Jason Statham-Dwayne Johnson film is still the most entertaining the franchise has been in years.

Taste shmaste: niceties like coherent editing or believable dialogue feel positively bourgeois in the face of such wonderful nonsense.
