This movie is a rambling assortment of unfleshed out, unexplained, very poorly executed plots. Each segment of the anthology lacks not only dialogue, but explanation or context. A series of events just happen, and we're supposed to be okay with this because they're shot in an arthouse style. I am fine with bad horror movies, but this one was frustrating because it was too inexplicable to even be bad. I got the gist of every segment, but they were meaningless and lacked payoff. Save yourself the run time of this dumpster fire.
Some decent horror elements but too many of the films end very flatly. The key to short films is nailing the closing moments to at least give a point and context to what the viewer has just seen or else everything just ads up to nothing and in this case horror for horror-sake. Nice idea but poorly executed.
Sometimes incoherent, but as a series of short films, I enjoyed all they pack into each vignette.
This really wasn't for me. I fast forwarded the first one when it was clear it was going to go into soft porn and masturbation. Second one the girl just brutally kills a goat for some reason. So I turned it off. The subject material didn't interest me, the stories were trying too hard to shock and awe but there was zero build up into a genuinely creepy tale. I'm a horror fan but this one wasn't for me.
This movie is disgusting and in such poor taste.
It's very refreshing to see the culture from other ethnicities, not just from christian folklore.
Total garbage. Waste of time. Just boring and super dumb. Not scary or entertaining in the slightest
I would definitely recommend this to horror fans. As expected not all of them are good, but the positive ones far outweigh the negative ones. Breakdown:
1. Austria: 3.25* - wasn't scary but was interesting and enjoyable.
2. Turkey: 4* - my fav of them all; had scares in itand was very interesting from beginning to end.
3. Poland: 2* - I didn't understand the plot, it was too short to get into it and wasn't scary at all.
4. America: 2.5* - was too short and therefore when the (boring) climax came it didn't have much impact.
5. Greece: 2.5* - was too folklore-y bc it felt like you had to know the folktale more to be scared/affected by it.
6. India: 3.25* - very cool concept/folktale; a bit creepy and a great ending.
7. Germany: 3.5* - i liked the folktale a lot and it had nice surprises during the climax.
8. Hungary: 3.25* - Nice folktale, good execution and nice surprises throughout.
some of the 8 stories were a teeny cheezy BUT the stories were all scary. And the umm, scary monster-thing in the first story, THE SINFUL WOMEN OF HOLLFALL, was pretty horrifying! For True Horror fans, this is a must. These are where today's horror stories came from.....terrifying myths and folklore.
