Where do I come from? For some, the question has a simple answer -- for others, the truth can be much more complicated. With the rise in popularity of at-home DNA tests, it's now easier than ever for people to uncover their family history and, sometimes, things their parents wish would stay buried. Interested in learning more about his family heritage, director Jon Baime took an at-home DNA test and uncovered a family secret that has been hidden for half a century. Featuring in-depth interviews with Jon's siblings as well as a treasure trove of family photos and films spanning 70 years, FILLING IN THE BLANKS takes audiences on a journey as Jon explores the meaning behind his discovery and expands on what it means to be family.

Filling in the Blanks is a hugely personal and affecting documentary about the nature of family. Go to Full Review

The revelations of this tale are obviously life-altering for Baime, and rightly so, but the idiosyncrasies of a family tree don’t have the same bombshell effect for a viewer at home. Go to Full Review

EZ R 04/25/2024 1. This is a real live account of the movie made in America. 2. At the onset - I thought this guy Jon has to be related to Jerry Springer - he looks like him, his mannerism and voice are very close. 3. Jon is adorable 4. The anger of some of his halves, harboring wrath against the father needs to be placed at rest. They would NOT be in this world, if but for that decision. 5. There is NOTHING morally wrong by as to the actions of these kids parents, facing inability to conceive and a wish for a baby. 6. Jons mum, I like her - it is none of your business and Jons dad, I like him too.. and the parents that raised these kids are the real fathers, not the sperm donor. I hope they all realize this. And in the case of Jons family, he hit the jackpot, even before he took that DNA test -with those parents. GREAT DOCUMENTARY - Excellent story telling. It does play out how everyone has a different view about sperm donors in the 60's and to the present time. This movie ties in the history, religious views, family and coping with finding out a hiding secret of the family. See more Kelly B 03/22/2024 Very well done. Devastatingly beautiful. See more Jon F 03/11/2024 How many siblings do you have? After this you may rethink your answer. See more Sal D @JustTheLaw 12/30/2023 Well produced film on the after affects of a family artificial insemination secret. I feel like I've seen this before at least once but individuals on camera and the direction/editing keep the audience engaged. See more Read all reviews
