Movie Info

This interesting rip-off of The Evil Dead involves a diabolical real-estate agent who commits a series of ritual murders in order to release an evil god trapped in another dimension. The sacrifices, timed to coincide with cosmic emanations from the black hole in which the god has been imprisoned, turn several occupants of a remote mountain cabin (sound familiar?) into demonic ghouls. Gory mayhem ensues as the two survivors fend off the zombie attacks, leading to a somewhat insolvent conclusion in which it may be difficult to tell who wins. Though basically pointless, this film nevertheless boasts some effective scares, excellent makeup effects, and a fairly detailed exploration of the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired premise.

Audience Reviews for Forever Evil

An abysmally cheap-looking and sounding film that features acting, direction, and cinematography as pathetic as the story and special effects. Somewhat surprisingly, Forever Evil develops from a cheesy psychic/supernatural horror film into a blatant ripoff of the Lovecraft mythology. There are some creepy moments and entertaining bits of schlocky dialogue, but the film ultimately proves forgettable even as an unintentionally funny horror film.

I have to say, I enjoyed this quite a bit. (And not just because Dr. Freex is my Flixster bud.) There are numerous flaws such as unpolished acting, lack of sfx budget, and a soundtrack that seems to be fighting the tension. But underneath it all are well developed characters, an engrossing story, and perhaps a few too many intriguing ideas to be explored in such a limited venue. It's damn refreshing that a film fails because its reach exceeds its grasp.
