I'll take Mark Wahlberg in just about anything. This was a fast moving thriller with plenty of action, ass kicking and plot. It will keep you guessing all the way till the end. It was smart in a stupid thug action movie sort of way.

Revenge flick that's lack of focus and over stuffed subplots sink the ship.

Director John Singleton's spiritual follow-up to his unanimously acclaimed debut feature "Boyz n the Hood" doesn't pack the same progressive smack down that that movie did but it still succeeds in being hilariously entertaining. While it relies more on fast-talking one-liners and rapport from a cohesive cast and elaborately staged shootouts, the movie hits home for those viewers who have ever lost a close parent or guardian and what they would ultimately do to avenge them. At under two hours, the movie really makes the most of its trim running time and keeps the exposition to a minimum. This approach is a double-edged sword, however, because it would have been more satisfying from a character development standpoint if the film utilized the use of flashback to make each of the four brothers more multidimensional. Out of the principal cast, Tyrese Gibson ("Fast and the Furious" franchise) and newcomer Garrett Hedlund (2010's "Tron: Legacy" and 2012's "On The Road") captivate the most while 2013 Best Actor nominee for "12 Years A Slave" Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays a very effective, scenery-chomping big bad gang leader. All totaled, this film provides a brisk viewing experience even though it never aspires for true greatness.

I wasn't a big fan of this film, there was some good action but this was the only strong point of the film.

Well written, well acted, and contained enough interesting twists to keep the movie fresh. A good watch.

just a little too much over the top. watch Sons of Katie Elder instead

An uneven mix of revenge thriller and comedy. It has a very likable cast (Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villain!? Wow!), but there are way too many plot holes and it's just not really fun to watch in general. Four Brothers is a hit and miss.

I liked it. Kind of a take on the Brothers Karamazov but not really. It also benefited from the main characters being something between loosely organized chaos and disorganized chaos that kept it from being like other revenge films that get so stylish they're overdone now.

"Four Brothers" is gritty and boasts some great action sequences in this revenge thriller, but the plot is too scattered that even it's top-notch actors can't save the poor final act.

Super violent, gleefully acted, and incredibly quick-witted. a well oiled celebration of the tough guy.

great way of showing how protective family can be

I like many of the people in this movie and only kept watching in the hope it would switch from ridiculously bad to being not so, and it never happened

Great movie. The plot is pretty a-typical, with some good ideas and plot points of its own, the action scenes are tense and well-shot, the script is solid, and the performances are good, especially from the four leads, and Ejiofor.

This movie brings us four Brothers that are out for revenge for the death of their 'angel' mother. It's a bit strange the movie decided to leave out the alive mother almost entirely (Spoiler alert: she gets shot in the first 5 minutes and dies instantly), so the Viewer is not allowed to get to know her even a Little bit. This makes it much harder to feel for the loss those four Brothers have endured. This movie has some heart: you still feel some empathy for foster Kids in General and those random four Boys in particular. However, the depth of this movie is comparable to the depth of a muddy Creek: its totally superficial from start to finish. Lots of unrealistic Shooting and Drama, not backed up by felt emotiion. I side with the critics on this one: it deserves 2,5 stars, but nothing more.

A gritty, yet highly implausible revenge story led by a great cast and directed with skill from the talented John Singleton who pulls no punches with the violence. The story is very good with the aforementioned brothers' adoptive mother being purposely gunned-down in a staged robbery and throughout you are on the edge of your seat wondering who's involved and who's straight. This was the turning point in Wahlberg's career where he began taking more mature roles and his camaraderie with the rest of his brothers is hilarious and loving. The film certainly has some silly moments and in the real world they would never be able to get away with so much of their own vigilante-justice, but the film is so fun you just have to take it for what it is. It's a violent, stripped-down, revenge drama that pays off on many fronts and I enjoy it quite a bit!

This one really impressed me more than I thought it would. It takes a 1970s type of filmmaking for present day with fair acting, a good, simple plot, and enough action that kept my attention throughout the whole movie.

Four Brothers offers some good moments but at the same time the film just falls into all the predictable lines that we all expect

Loved this film. None stop action throughout. One of Wahlberg's best films
