Audience Reviews for Frank, Liza and Sammy - The Ultimate Event

I loved it, every moment of this Ultimate Event. While you expect a concert immediately, it's more about the coming together of great singers to perform together to sold out shows worldwide. A great inside look at the genesis of 3 veteran singers and actors in their own right. Pleased to show you The Ultimate Event! [img][/img] SEE the entire entertaining spectacle here: A concert special starring Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and Sammy Davis, Jr. The program was videotaped in Detroit, part of the trio's worldwide concert tour, which debuted in September 1988. [img][/img] Also known as "Sinatra & Friends Concert Tour". FRANK SINATRA, LIZA MINNELLI, & SAMMY DAVIS, JR. It is very clear, however, that Sammy Davis and Liza Minnelli have the vocal POWER that Frank Sinatra does not have anymore. He did have this vocal projection years earlier, but not now. Sinatra settles for softer melodic tunes and on stage berates the "yelling" as he calls it. The fact of the matter is that Frank can't yell it like he use to and THAT is sad to see in this performance. [img][/img] Liza Minnelli (daughter of Judy Garland) The film starts with about 20 minutes of preparation for the Detroit, Michican show. How the tour came about, how the singers get ready for their performances. Reherasals are hardly necessary for these veterans. They do rehearse, but on stage that can be all thrown out the window as the group can improvise as well. [img][/img] After all that interesting preparation, the concert of 1988 begins. Sammy Davis, Jr. starts the show for about 20 minutes with astounding command singing a Phantom of the Opera song and a few other standards. Then he introduces legend Liza Minnielli, daughter of Judy Garland. She does her thing. Then, of course, Blue Eyes himself appears and the three eventually do a trio performance. [img][/img] The incomparable Sammie Davis You can take THIS to the bank. We will not see the likes of these performances in our lifetimes again. Book on it. Some will say, so what. Some will say it's a good thing. Most will say, oh what treasures we have lost. Liza is getting older, Sinatra and Davis are gone. [img][/img] Liza Minnelli For myself, life at their time was the best, the really really best. Their appeal came from the WWII generation, their legacy lingers on for those that care to hear it.
