One suspects most viewers will respond with a shrug, if they sit through it at all.
He seems to be attempting two paradoxical goals: a documentary about consumerism that is also a mock-documentary demonstrating that documentaries are fiction. It works superbly on both levels, but to what purpose?
Fleischer-Camp here stakes a claim in conceptually sophisticated documentary territory with a film that, despite frenetic cutting and a lean runtime, rewards contemplation and patience.
Fraud adds up to little more than a formally provocative but thematically tired stunt.
