Freaky Friday is motion picture cotton candy -- sweet while it lasts, easily disposed of, and insubstantial.

It's cute, and Jamie Lee Curtis is wonderful as always, but this Disney remake just isn't funny enough. Take your family, not your critical sensibilities.

Updated and overly sexed, this remake is heavy on the set-up and light on laughs.

While it's a perfectly competent and affable film, the new version doesn't have anything to prompt much enthusiasm.

Curtis' and Lohan's performances are unpredictable and inspired, much fresher than the movie they're stuck in.

A likable but flimsy retread that's barely worth the effort.

I'll bet my DVD collection that barely anyone's ire will be raised over the insensitivity shown to Asians in Freaky Friday. It deserves to be greeted with a fair degree of disgust.

Stories about role reversals are usually about teaching both sides a lesson in humility and appreciation. Here, all the lessons are for frumpy adults who’ve forgotten about rock and roll.

Somehow people have got it into their heads that this is a good movie.

Completely satisfying, entirely unsurprising, and says all there is to say about itself by the fact of itself.

Blame Freaky screenwriters Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon for the yellow-peril fantasies, and instead curl up with Rodgers's novel and its sequel, A Billion for Boris, which remain eminently enjoyable today.

'Creaky Friday' is more like its best the movie is no more than an amusingly retrograde retread of an idea that's been done all too frequently on the screen.

[Curtis is] wonderfully silly, but the rest of it is mostly forgettable.

Doesn't offer much in the way of new insights into this most peculiar of subgenres.

Freaky Friday may be insubstantial, but what's there is remarkably watchable.

...hardly a classic -- neither was the original -- [but] good-natured enough that you'll be willing overlook the terrible Chinese accents and the obligatory smarmy speeches.
