Movie Info

Debtor Max Clemington (Robert Cummings) and his father, Florian (Nigel Bruce), set out to end their financial woes. Florian turns to gambling while Max struggles to secure himself a high-society bride. Max falls for charming widow Martha Gray (Ruth Hussey), but when she catches wind of his lack of money, she runs straight into the arms of the wealthy Sir George Kelvin (Reginald Owen). Max turns his attention to aging duchess Joan Culver (Judith Anderson) while secretly holding out for Gray.
