Movie Info

A sequel to Laleli'de Bir Azize, and with the collaboration of practically the same team, Gemide is the story of four sailors who sit around the ship and spend their time smoking pot. Their routine life turns upside down when one of them gets mugged and badly beaten. They catch the thieves and confiscate their money, also capturing their female companion who is a beautiful prostitute and somehow a virgin. A first feature by film-school graduate Serfar Akar, Gemide is a fast-paced action movie despite the fact that it takes place totally in closed space. It garnered the "Best Second Film," "Best Editing," "Best Director" and "Best Actor" awards of the Antalya Film Festival,1998. ~ Gönül Dönmez-Colin, Rovi
