What makes it work is also the performances from the all star cast, as well as Barry Sonnenfeld's stylish direction. He achieves to make a movie that's talkative and fast-paced at the same time.

Spunky and very funny screen adaptation of Elmore Leonard's 1990 novel.

It's Travolta -- smooth, commanding, handsome as ever, a cool, rhythmic bop in his walk -- who owns the film.

O nome do jogo é, resumindo, correr até a locadora e pegar este excelente filme, antes que alguém seja mais rápido e chegue primeiro.

It all goes to proves that Travolta's success is deserved.

The result is one of the best movies of the year and by far the most entertaining.

It has a good pace and a few twists that keep the audience guessing, but the real magic lies in the characters and what they can reveal.

While it's quite possible for the cinematically unaware to enjoy this film, this is a real treat for movie buffs. The story is as much about the love of motion pictures as it is about gangsters.

One of the pleasures of Get Shorty is watching the way the plot moves effortlessly from crime to the movies - not a long distance, since both industries are based on fear, greed, creativity and intimidation.

This comic potboiler about gangsters in Hollywood would be a great piece of fun even without Travolta. But as a loan shark from Miami with a charming bedside manner and bigtime movie dreams, he raises the fun quotient into the sublime.

For all its winking and nudging and brightly colored sense of delirium, the movie is also strangely flat.

Very enjoyable, though uneven, comedy comparing the world of organized crime to the world of Hollywood high rollers.

I did enjoy the intermittent good parts and Travolta's performance is a delight, but the rest of the movie is a waste.
