Sanjay Ramasamy (Surya) is a rich tycoon suffering from short term memory loss due to being hit by a metal pole when trying to intervene on his girlfriend's murder. Because of the severe injury on his head, his memory can only last for fifteen minutes and he doesn't remember events or incidents that have happened before in his life. He can now only live a comprehensible life by tattooing notes on himself and taking pictures of things with a Polaroid camera to remind himself of the incidents that have happened. His story in unraveled by a police officer who is hunting him due to several murders he has committed while trying to find his girlfriend's murderer through his diary. His story has also piqued the interest of a medical college student, Chitra (Nayanthara) who is searching for a patient with an "interesting" record for her college project. Chitra comes to know about Sanjay's love with Kalpana (Asin) a model cum activist. When her activist work for children comes in the way of child racketeers, she is killed by Lakshman when she intervened with his plan of kidnapping 25 young girls to Calcutta. So, with the help of Chitra, Sanjay sets out on a revenge spree, searching for the murderer of the one love of his life. Yes, the movie's concept has been extracted from "Memento". And during the winter '08, we would be able to see Aamir Khan, in a remake of "Ghajini", with same crew along with Asin. The first half of the movie has enough good light moments, filled with good humor, but the second half actually lacks the entertainment factor, the audience might feel the movie as lengthy in result. Surya does a fine performance & so does Asin. Along with it, she looks very beautiful with her sweet smile, she is an upcoming rising actress for Bollywood. Direction is not really an amazing work. Nothing new with the story, just that it reminds you of 'Memento' & 'Bourne Supremacy'. The songs, they are fine. The track, 'Oru Malaai' is an amazing one, & 'Sutrum Vizhi' is a decent track, rest others are ordinary. The action, not really exciting, apart from the climax action sequence. Hoping that the Bollywood remake would be better, as 'the dependable' Aamir is in a leading role. Watch this one for Surya & Asin.

Very good love story & Never compare this with the classic Memento.

Memento remade Bollywood style. The highly stylized action scenes are kind of fun to watch. It has the usual musical interludes that seem totally out of place to me but I found the music pretty good and so were the dance numbers. I found the lengthy backstory jarringly out of synch with the style of the rest of the film. The story is disjointed and poorly paced. Much of the acting is unrealistic and hammy but the star, Surya Sivakumar, is really quite effective at times. In sum, it is a film with a lot of negatives but still fairly entertaining. Its two charismatic stars get most of the credit for my giving it three stars.

Ghajini is a classic example of how a brilliant concept can be wasted and made absolutely pointless.

The plot in itself was so brilliantly structured that it could have supported the movie all by itself. Instead, They focus on all the unnecessary things and make an absolute mess of the movie.

If you're going to steal a Hollywood concept, Atleast do it properly!

After watching this Tamil version, I realize that the ending of the Hindi version has really improved a lot. In the Tamil version, there are too many unnecessary fight scenes, and the tension of the last scene is diluted by the stupid watching crowds and the unreasonable fact that Sanjay can remember Ghajini's face. The Hindi version brings the med student into the scene, which resembles Kalpana's death. The footprints also remind us of the happy time that Kalpana and Sanjay spent together.
