Movie Info

The BBC gives over a whole evening to an 'investigation into the supernatural'. Four respected presenters and a camera crew attempt to discover the truth behind the most haunted house in Britain. They think they are in control of the situation. They think they are safe. The viewers settle down and decide to watch 'for a laugh'. Ninety minutes later the BBC, and the country, was changed, and the consequences are still felt today.

Audience Reviews for Ghostwatch

It wouldn't be surprising to hear that the creators of the Paranormal Activity franchise watched this for inspiration, if not for the idea in itself.

This is kind of brilliant. Watching it after the fact that it was released as a news program might lessen the effect that it had on its original viewers, but this is still definitely spooky. Pipes is so hard to catch that I was really staring at the screen, attempting to give every inch of the frame my full attention so as not to miss his sightings, which had me even more on edge. Some of the performances are a little hammy, but this is still the greatest Halloween prank since the Orson Welles/Mercury Theater radio broadcast of War of the Worlds.
