One of my favorites growing up! Beautiful score and Godzilla's design is one of the best to ever be put on film. The dubbing is very cheesy but the filmmakers admitted that they wanted it to be cheesy to embrace the camp of the old Godzilla films. The human leads are likable enough to make me care for them, Katagiri is a great villain with great screen presence and the monster action is fun to watch,

This is a great return of my the king of the monsters after the disaster in1998 . The movie is a lot of fun .Godzilla design is different but something that we are familiar with with. The human villain I love he is just amazing. The characters are all so good and just nice that Toho returned to bring Godzilla back.

The human cast is more or less somewhat uninteresting but the Kaiju action and presence of Godzilla and the new enemy Kaiju, Orga, is awesome. It has the best of both worlds making Godzilla an enemy and terrifying beast but also having kaiju vs kaiju when Orga appears on the scene. It's a much more enjoyable watch than most might give credit for and Godzilla and Orga's lore plus their final confrontation was awesome.

Only slightly better than the Emmerich/Devlin big budgeted Hollywood offering released only 2 years prior. There are 4 eras of Toho Godzilla: Showa(1954-1975), Hesei(1984-1995), Millennium and now Shin era which only has one movie and one cartoon series. Godzilla 2000 was the beginning of the Millennium which ignored all the sequels and is itself a direct sequel to 1954 original. Toho rushed this into production after the near universal rejection of GodIguana the renamed Zilla. Toho believed they took the God out out of Godzilla. Clever. Anyway, the suit is awesome in this one, love the design and the battles are pretty fun and well done. Story, even for a Godzilla movie, leaves much to be desired. The following flick(Godzilla Vs Megaguirus is much better. Although, it is not a continuation of this one but another sequel that ignores all movies but the first.

Even though it's one of the scarier films in the series it's also pretty good. It's a fan fave because of how much Godzilla destroys.

While it's light years ahead of the incredibly awful 1998 Godzilla, this wasn't the best way to start off a new continuity of kaiju movies. It isn't terrible, but nothing is truly special about it. Godzilla fights a fairly forgettable alien threat, with colorless and bland human characters populating the background. It's competently made and maintains a fairly serious tone, so it gets points for that. Overall, this is a middle of the road entry for the series.

Godzilla 2000: Millennium is not genuinely the best movie featuring the Big G given that the film can't make up its mind on who to give the spotlight to, the giant fire-breathing monster himself or the silver UFO, but it's certainly a well-deserved shot at Roland Emmerich by making Godzilla the destructive human hating anti-hero he is by making him a crucial defense for humanity against Orga, and because it tries refreshingly new formulas on how Godzilla fights an enemy monster. At least here, Godzilla HAS a monster enemy, who did his whale-faced imposter fight in the Roland Emmerich movie besides the tiny puny US Army?

Quite enjoyable Godzilla film has out reptilian hero fighting a giant space monster. This was the first film in the Millennium series reboot of the Godzilla franchise, which ignored the continuity of all the prior films with the exception of the original first film. Godzilla movies can become a blur of men in rubber suits pounding on one another, but this one features better special effect than most and also features quite a few kaiju battles (including some very well filmed nighttime battle sequences), which makes this entry into the long running series is well worth watching for Godzilla fans.

This is a great movie. The 1998 reboot is better. But still this is better then Godzilla's revenge. This is the part 23 to the Japan Godzilla series. It is a great movie see it.

One of my favorite Godzilla films. Yes the dubbing is ok, but Godzilla and the action is just SPECTACULAR and AWESOME. We definetly needed this film after the anal atom bomb of a remake known as Godzilla 1998!

First Japanese Godzilla movie I watched still served up the action I expected to see. Godzilla 2000 is an average to great Godzilla movie. It does not have the best monster fights, but proves itself worthy of praise. Ultimately it destroys the bad reputation Roland Emmerich's terrible incarnation of the monster, along with its stupid plot and its lack of godzilla.

Godzilla 2000 has a sort of good plot, and semi-interesting characters. I believe this to be the most overrated godzilla movie. I don't get why all godzilla fans hold this as one of the best. The effects in the final city rampage/ monster fight are pretty good, but I can't say the same for the rest of the film. They rely to much on green screen effects, and the green screen effects are pretty terrible. There are also some awful CGI of godzilla underwater. In this film, Godzilla fights an alien who comes down from space surrounded in a rocky material. It is eventually revealed to be a shiny metal space ship/ creature. Then in the very end, the ship
Takes its final form as the monster "Orga." The monster is really interesting. It can takes on qualities of other monsters it fights, and has an awesome suit design. Sadly the amazing fight scene between godzilla and orga ends very fast. Godzilla's suit design looks great. At this point in the series, it is starting to look less like a suit and more like
An actual animal. The suit looks very ferocious, as it should be. There were some really good characters in this film, but also some pretty annoying ones. The little girl, you can guess, is one of the annoying ones, just like most of the kids in the series. The other two main characters were ok, except the woman was kind of unlikable. Don't quote me on those two characters, because its probably the fact that I only have the english dubbed version, but I don't know. Overall, this movie is a pretty good return to the series, but it gets too much praise. I think two reasons why people fanboy over this, is because it came out after godzilla 1998, and it was sort of relieving. The other reason is because Lots of people grew up on this one(including me). Its not a bad movie, its not a "great" movie, but it has its moments. It is definitely worth a watch for hardcore monster fans, and casual godzilla fans alike.

I just can't get enough of these!

Much better than the 1998 american version, but again one of the cheesier ones, with a godzilla that looks good from distance, but really contrasts with the rest of the movies when seen in close up's or as a CGI monster whener he is moving in the background.

One of the best Godzilla films, the big G looks awesome in this one.
