Imagine Tyler Perry directing the lamest remake of Kiss the Girls imaginable and you can get a sense of how flat-out awful the storytelling and character development is in this one.

Nearly a year has passed since the release of Catherine Hardwicke's Red Riding Hood, and Amanda Seyfried is still crying wolf.

Ms. Seyfried belongs to a stable of blank-faced, saucer-eyed beauties whose limited appeal may conquer the small screen but so far has failed to tame the large.

While Gone has some visual style, the cheap and melodramatic script fails to make it to the party.

It's never fully convincing in the way it lays out a bread-crumb trail for its suffering protagonist to follow to the truth. But it does find a little new life in a familiar formula.

A thriller so fixated on red herrings that viewers may stop caring if anyone's really in danger.

A low-pulse thriller that evaporates from memory with the last credit.

I could not decide whether it was absolute garbage or a work of sheer genius.

The title refers to your 12 bucks. This movie is as amateurish as Amanda Seyfried is pretty.

With a title that's even more generic than the film's aesthetic, Gone will struggle to draw audiences. By next weekend, it'll be...wait for it... Not there, anymore.

Seyfried has spent too much time lately in vehicles that aren't worthy of her. Gone at least takes her seriously - except when, to delicious effect, it doesn't.

'Gone' is a cliché thriller that lacks intrigue and suspense. It's so disposable that TV networks such as Cinemax or Chiller may take a pass on grabbing it for their audience.

A logic-free, utterly joyless thriller that substitutes a wild goose chase for an actual plot

With a movie this lackluster, some easily telegraphed insanity is infinitely more appealing than the nothingness offered here.

Diverting but disposable, this overheated, underdeveloped mystery-thriller goes through its paces without generating much tension or suspense.

Poor writing, flaccid direction deliver a tedious look at a woman in peril. First Riding Hood, now Gone, Seyfried's got two recent films about fleeing from a killer in the forest. Maybe it's time to rethink the woods...

Gone is a mystery/thriller that is neither mysterious nor thrilling and proves Amanda Seyfried is quite a ways off at becoming a leading lady of quality entertainment.
