Nearly a year has passed since the release of Catherine Hardwicke's Red Riding Hood, and Amanda Seyfried is still crying wolf.

With a title that's even more generic than the film's aesthetic, Gone will struggle to draw audiences. By next weekend, it'll be...wait for it... Not there, anymore.

Another squandering of Amanda Seyfried's talent, this low-mileage thriller won't be remembered for long.

There's nothing in the film - which lacks urgency - or Seyfried's eyes or physical demeanor that suggests panic, fear, desperation.

There's little to recommend this B-grade, formulaic affair. The plot is tosh, the dialogue hackneyed at best.

Seyfried shows she's not the kind of actress who would be an easy victim in a Scream movie.

Despite Seyfried's suitably wide-eyed performance, director Heitor Dhalia holds too loose a grip on the suspense, driving the film into a succession of dramatic dead ends.

Is director Heitor Dhalia's non-thrilling new thriller a condemnation of police ineptitude or his own?

The ending, which will not be discussed here, is jaw-droppingly stupid. "Gone" is a slow-moving thriller that doesn't make sense. Paul Chambers, CNN.

The title refers to your 12 bucks. This movie is as amateurish as Amanda Seyfried is pretty.

Poor writing, flaccid direction deliver a tedious look at a woman in peril. First Riding Hood, now Gone, Seyfried's got two recent films about fleeing from a killer in the forest. Maybe it's time to rethink the woods...

Gone is a mystery/thriller that is neither mysterious nor thrilling and proves Amanda Seyfried is quite a ways off at becoming a leading lady of quality entertainment.

No money should ever change hands in any Gone-related interaction, unless it is because you are buying matches and gasoline to set all the copies of it on fire.
