Movie Info

Though Goofy always means well, his amiable cluelessness and klutzy pratfalls regularly embarrass his awkward adolescent son, Max. When Max's lighthearted prank on his high-school principal finally gets his longtime crush, Roxanne, to notice him, he asks her on a date. Max's trouble at school convinces Goofy that he and the boy need to bond over a cross-country fishing trip like the one he took with his dad when he was Max's age, which throws a kink in his son's plans to impress Roxanne.

Audience Reviews for A Goofy Movie

Consistently funny, often touching, and more poignant than you might expect, A Goofy Movie actually stands the test of time. It's not as funny as some of Goofy's classic shorts, but it still has a lot of wacky shenanigans. However the trade-off for a bit fewer laughs is some surprisingly effective moments of heart with the father-son dynamic that actually works way better than it has any right to. It's still funny, but it's also quite serious at times. Not to mention it's extremely dated in exactly the right way. So dated it's not, it's such a product of it's time it becomes timeless, presenting a 90's that never existed but is still a ton of fun. It's just a fun movie that I don't mind revisiting now and then.

One of those classic Disney film to give you nostalgia, it brings back heaps of memories. The plot wasn't something that's original and the character interactions were cheesy, but I still enjoyed it to some extent.

Disney Movie #19: A Goofy Movie Although it may not be the smartest of Disney movies, a classic Goofy is always hilarious. If you're going into this film and expecting something classic like the Fantasia Era films, you will be dissapointed. Although it's funny and entertaining, at times that characters can get a bit annoying. Overall, it may not be a great movie, but it's solid family entertainment that will keep both parents and kids awake and interested.

While I understand why people would hate this animated film, A Goofy Movie was a decent film, in my opinion. Sure it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was charming, and it kinda reminds us of our high school years. It's forgettabe at times, but it was a fun filling joyride whenever you get bored. Whenever I find out the ratings for some of my childhood movies are bad, it hurts me very badly. I would want to love this movie just as much as I did when I was a kid, but now that I'm older, wiser, and thinking more of a professional critic, it hurts me even more because I know what makes a movie good. Unfortunately, this movie is not one of them. The storyline is pointless. It had good ideas to make this movie stand out, but it was a mess. It's like I've heard this story before but with good elements fall flat. While the characters weren't easy to get into, they were charming and had good chemistry. The only character that we can all relate to, however, is Max. He is your typical teenager who has problems talking to girl and embarrased about being around his dad, Goofy. Not that he was a good or bad character, it's just that he doesn't deserve a movie. Well he was okay. Funny but... goofy. The songs from this movie were fun to enjoy. My favorite song has got to be I2I, which we hear near the end of this movie, and when the credits starts rolling. Most of the songs were not memorable, but they were catchy and a great way to start the day. The jokes here were decent. Some were funny, whereby some were either forgettable, or just plain childish. Neither of them were smart, but at least most of them didn't try too hard to be over-the-top funny. A Goofy Movie was a decent film with a bunch of flaws. Not that it was bad nor good, but it was one of those films where it doesn't trying too hard at all. You could easily tell where Disney was going with this. Everything after this were hit-and-miss animated films, excluding a few like, say, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Hercules etc. I kinda liked this movie, not that it was the best disney movie ever made, but it was decent enough to satisfy my days.
