I thought this was a great story, the acting was great. I love a coming of age story where it is not just the main character who finds themselves

director Adriana Maggs captures the ragged desolation and dark humour of Newfoundland's down-and-out extremes with an evocative drama that bubbles along a tide of dark comedy.

Great Canadian movie. The storyline is pretty intense and deep. A profound story showing the raw reality of real life and all it encompasses. The acting was outstanding and Maslany was fantastic. Hopefully this will lead to more roles in the future.

This is an interesting movie to say the least.
Had it not been handled this well it would have been a mess of a film the young actress who plays Ruby(Tatana Maslany)is really good in a role that alot of young actresses would die for

This brilliant ensemble cast is led by Tatiana Maslany as teenage Ruby, and each performance is rich and complex, walking a very fine line of morality. There are some incredibly disturbing themes explored here, but it's all done with integrity. The Toronto International Film Festival should be ashamed for turning this flick down. Congratulations to Sundance for giving it a chance.

First things first, this movie made me really uncomfortable!! This kind of thing happens all the time (not to the letter, but you know...) and it's very sad. One parent bails, and the other is left behind to try and do it on their own. This story tells of a 13 year old girl's struggle with said situation. Very good little Newfie movie!! Check it out.

a surprisingly watchable melodramatic Indy Canadian film. worth a look if you got nothing going.

Another one of those wonderful "indie flicks". Watch for Tatiana Maslany, a superb young talent. Excellent writing, acting, and a charming Newfoundland locale make for an enjoyable 90 minute peek into a few lives on "the rock". Recommended !!

Decent movie about Newfoundland and what goes on in Newfoundland, not necessarily the nicest side of NFLD but a side none the less.

A huge disappointment. Perhaps it was a matter of high expectations but the entire production was a true let down. Performances do not match the stellar reviews and the entire tale is rather dull.
