The sexuality of the protagonists is just another plot twist in this mildly funny sports comedy that never seems to accept its characters as people rather than cliches.

Having seen Wet Hot American Summer, it's impossible to take any film seriously that follows the formula 'lovable band of misfits undergoes wacky training montage to come back and beat the evil team.'

Guys and Balls is an inventory of such cliches, but at least they're trotted out with a modicum of proficiency.

If there's a gay cliche who doesn't flounce through this feel-good German comedy, he must have been out of town when the casting call went out, but its fundamental good nature is tough to resist.
