A cute and fun German language film that warms the heart but utterly misses any opportunity to develop (or even acknowledge!) the angst of exclusion, loneliness, uncertainty and injustice that motivate the primary aspects of this film. The sports action scenes are much better than most similar LGBT soccer films (e.g., Kickoff), but the team-building aspect of the story is not sufficiently developed. "Guys & Balls" is a pleasant film, but it is not very satisfying.

Maximilian Bruckner justly won and German film critics award for his breakthrough endearing and forceful performance as Ecki. The film is about a gay soccer team, dealing with the relationship of manhood, sports, and homosexuality, a mix no safeguarded Hollywood product would ever dare touch. In a sense it is a classic sports movie, cheering on the underdog to victory, but this film shows that it sometimes takes a homosexual to make a real man. The dialgoue is at times so taut and quick-witted as to remind one of a classic screwball comedy (think Bringing Up Baby), but at other times must lapse into the sentimental to make its point. An adorable little film, that Bruckner definitely makes worth watching.

Funny film with a heart, gets all the gay stereotypes in there but the mix works. It's a football version of the Full Monty, with a gay love story. One of my all time favorite films

This movie was pretty cute, with enough sports action to make it interesting.

This turgid film is pure disappointment both for sports aficionados, as well as the gay mainstream. Fraught with cliches, it completely dispels with depth and emotional sincerity in favor of a few hollow laughs.

this movie is hilarious! The biker guys really fit the decor of this German movie! This movie was totally necessary because it shows that homophobia is wrong and you should fight back and earn your right!

A cute German film about a soccer goalie who discovers his homosexuality, gets confronted by his terribly homophobic teammates, gets kicked off the team, and decides to get his revenge by challenging them to a game against a gay team.

There is no doubt what will happen, and although the film courts the fine line of being ever-so-slightly offensive, it is a cute enough film that made me believe all the "gay jokes" were said on purpose for comedic affect to make a point of the ridiculousness of homophobia. Not a great film, but not terrible by no means either, the slightly stereotypical mishmash of the band of gay brothers that come together to prove a point about gay atheletes is sort of dated now, as any intelligent person knows there is no correlation between athletisism and sexuality.

But it was an ok film all the same.

Funny moments but it lacks something...
maybe more action on soccer?

Ug, he has a nice body - but there really isn't any reason to care about these paper thin characters and an incredibly paint by numbers plot.

Great concept for a movie, we need something like this in American. Tons better than Eleven Men Out (even though that movie came out first and was considered ground breaking). Kind of a weak movie otherwise.

You don't have to have an interest in European Football (soccer) to like this film. It is all about finding your own way of living, and it is heartwarming to follow this young man Ecki through the perils of finding just that.
