Movie Info

Based on a popular French comic strip, this lavish and erotic adventure fantasy (said to be one of the most expensive films in the history of French cinema) chronicles the exploits of a sexy young girl who escapes from a convent to go looking for the father she has not seen in many years. The story features plenty of female nudity. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Audience Reviews for Gwendoline

A French film based on some super sexy comic strip made to cash in on the success of Indiana Jones, but with more in common with Romancing the Stone and Emanuelle and the last Cannibals. That chick from the White Snake videos and her hot Jewish friend (Zabou) escape from a convent to travel to the Far East only to be captured for sex slavery. They hire the adventurer who rescued them to search the wastelands of China for the whereabouts of the girl who was responsible for breaking up Great White's father. They encounter all kinds of trouble including cannibals and an Amazon-like society where all the women clamor for the right to breed with the adventurer. All this to find a butterfly. An over-the-top story, trite dialogue and lots of boobs.

Campy adaptation of a French comic book; supposedly, one of the most expensive French films ever made, but you'd never know it by looking at it.

"The Perils of Gwendoline" will eat your brain and then spit it unceremoniously into your face. Which is why I recommend watching it.
