Movie Info

A young woman's abrupt changes in her life may provide a key to her past in this drama from Italy. After losing her job in Bucharest, Eva (Alexandra Pirici) suddenly decides to leave home and sets out for Italy, setting down in the village of Melfi. With no money and no job, Eva soon faces hard times, but she finds a benefactor in Anna (Erica Fontana), a worker at a local Fiat plant, who allows her to stay with her and her family. Anna is compassionate towards Eva but doesn't behave as if they're close friends, and Eva soon begins following a fellow Romanian exile (Antonella Attili) and her friend, a low level crook (Marcello Mazzarella). In time, Eva confronts the woman and we learn the two are not strangers after all. Hai Paura del Buio (aka Afraid Of The Dark) was the first feature film from director and screenwriter Massimo Coppola. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
