He Knows You're Alone Reviews

The low-budget He Knows You're Alone looks like it was written and shot by an 8th grader who borrowed his father's camera. The story is ludicrous. The dialogue is embarrassing. The acting is wooden. The production values are non-existent. There are countless scenes that serve no purpose. Case in point: the absurd car chase. There are countless characters who serve no purpose. Case in point: the Tom Hanks' character. There are situations within scenes that serve no purpose. Case in point: what's the purpose of the owner blowing cigar smoke in the bride-to-be's face? The entire movie is nothing more than an irritating, jaw-clenching mess and is only worth watching to see Hanks in his film debut.

The name is the creepiest thing about it.

A decent slasher about a man who stalks a woman the weekend before her wedding. It's definitely a Halloween knock off, but it's one of the better Halloween knock offs. Tom Hanks appears in an early appearance.

Slasher film centering around a deranged serial killer (Tom Rolfing) who goes after people mostly women who are going to get married or be engaged since that is what triggered his first victim to be was to a former flame. He would then hop to the bus to the next town, only to conveniently overhear about another marriage engagement with ex-boyfriend, Marvin (Don Scardino) getting off and attempting to talk Amy (Caitlin O' Heaney) out of marrying her fiance Phil. Tom Hanks first film debut according to imdb.com, and it's a minor role.

Solidly made, if unoriginal, little slasher film about a bride-to-be having herself and her wedding party stalked by a deranged killer. As her friends and family are knocked off one-by-one, she's helped by a renegade cop who's own bride was murdered by the same killer. There's not a lot of gore and it's not all that scary, but you do get to see the film debut of Tom Hanks as a psychology student who has a scene where he tells the group about why people like to be scared at the movies. Overall, "He knows You're Alone" is completely unoriginal, but it's not as bad as you'd expect.

Saw it upon original theatrical release and just remember the guffaws from the sparse audience. Not great. Or particularly scary. At all.

Feels almost like 70s movie, even though it's a 1980 slasher. The film feels kind of meta despite its age. It's still not the best, but it's solid. Definitely tries hard at times to be Halloween.

Way better than average slash 'em up with Caitlin O'Heaney and Don Scardino making for two very likable leads. While the score and some of the set pieces blatantly ape Halloween, He Knows You're Alone has enough going for itself that you never really notice. There are some genuinely hair raising moments and edge of your seat suspense throughout. Plus, not only do you get Tom Hanks' screen debut, but you also get a cast full of likable and interesting performers that you want to root for. A great film for Halloween or a gloomy Friday evening. An underrated gem!

Below average. Truly uninspired killer who I still don't really understand. Mostly two stars for a powerful opening that inspired Scream 2. Interesting to see a young Tom Hanks pop up here and there.
