Audience Reviews for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Beginning
I remember when this show first aired. I was a big fan of He-Man as a kid and wondered what a new take on the show would be like. I found this in a cheap bin at Wal-Mart for $3 and just couldn't pass it up. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Beginning is the first ten episodes of the series, and it's not really that bad. It's actually much better than most people made it out to be. It's not perfect, but it isn't a pile of crap either. I liked it, and I might even watch it again sometime just for fun. I guess that's the best thing I can say about it.
Mercy? What a ridiculous concept. Adam, the prince of Eternia, is granted the powers of the elders from Castle Grayskull to help thwart the plans of evil doers. He is provided a magic sword that turns him into He-man. He is aided by other agents assigned to protect Eternia whom are known as Masters of the Universe. Eternia is commonly attacked by an old foe of King Randor, Skeletor (formerly evil magician Keldor). Can He-Man and the Masters of the Universe protect Eternia? "You're not related to dragons, are you? There seems to be a family resemblance." Gary Hartle, director of Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, The Blues Brothers: Animated Series, Taz-Mania, and the Animaniacs series, delivers He-man and the Masters of the Universe. The storylines for these episodes are worthwhile and fill many of the holes within the previous He-man cartoon from the 80s. The animation is stellar and impressive for an American cartoon series. "So this is Castle Grayskull? It could use a can of paint." I obtained the box set for this entire series last Christmas (2009). This was my favorite series in the 80s and I watched this reboot in 2002 while attending Pennsylvania State University. I remember reading many disappointing reviews for this series upon its release but I always enjoyed this series. I wasn't a huge fan of the snake and insect villain focus at the end of the run, but the evolution of the He-man universe was fun to watch. I recommend giving this series a shot. "You can't tell a 16-year old boy from the strongest man in the universe?" Great: A
