Jamie J @JamieJ680 2h The rating is specifically for Kit Connor’s performance.  I’d suspected for a while that Alice Oseman wasn’t a good screenwriter and this film confirms it. The pacing, the endless montages. It feels like she’s sucked the soul out of her own creation and lost whatever message she was trying to portray.  Acting wise I was not too sad that the side characters had very little to do because most of them really aren’t good. Fans will be sad though. I’ve always found Joe Locke to be a decent actor who has improved. I suspect he’s going to be typecast as I’m not sure how much range he has but what he does is good. Hope he will prove me wrong. For me, Kit Connor has always been the stand out in this and he proved it once again. I had the privilege of seeing him on Broadway a while ago and he is astounding so I know he will go on from here to projects that really showcase just how fantastic an actor he is. The movie does have a slightly more mature feel, than the series but it fits well with it being a movie. Heartstopper is truly forever. See more Jen . @crystalcastles 1d as someone who deeply loved the original series, it upsets me to say this movie is absolutely trash.. the whole plot feels like a mess, THE olivia coleman is missing (immersion ruined) we’re still having conversations as if we are 12 even though they are starting university. it feels like there is no character development whatsoever and the whole movie exists just so nick and charlie can talk about sex in a cringy non relatable way. after watching it i was actually depressed for like 2 days because the movie just completely ruined my mental state. not because i was sad at the storyline or anything it just left such a bad taste in my mouth and i seemed to carry it with me. if you’re a fan of the original series PLS just skip this its not worth it, such a shame to end a beautiful story in such a pathetic way. Both character development shows grow but also how to be their own person without one another, and learning how to be better together, even when you don’t have all the answers. Loved it. See more Kiki D @kikissunicrn 1d genuinely heartbreaking to see such a beautifully written series turn into a movie that doesnt even cover all the characters like the episodes do. i wanted more of tao and elle + tara and darcy dynamics because they were starting to develop. this move just felt like a nothing burger with random suspense that, once it was over, made me feel more like i missed the whole scene. it was giving the hallmark movies with the repetitive plot timeline (no hate). i love heartstopper but this was not giving what it needed to give.
