Movie Info

Larita (Laura de la Uz) is a gifted pupil in 1950s Cuba who is fascinated with American culture, especially with Ernest Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea." Living in an impoverished village, Larita pursues her dream of studying in the United States by applying for a prestigious scholarship -- but snobbery and elitism stand in her way. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Victor (Raul Paz), mirrors the nascent revolution by fomenting rebellion at the high school.
