Movie Info
Stanley Snodgrass (Bob Hope), a talentless aspiring song-and-dance man, gets canned from his gig in the chorus of a New Jersey-based vaudeville show, a vehicle for starlet Irene Bailey (Arlene Dahl). But when a crazed fan (Robert Strauss), determined to kill anyone cast opposite Irene, attacks her latest co-star, Irene's boyfriend, Harry (Fred Clark), casts the bumbling Snodgrass in the leading man's place. Stanley can't believe his luck -- until he finds out about the knife-wielding killer.

Feb 17, 2011The costumes are amazingly ornate and both Arlene Dahl and Rosemary Clooney look great in them but hambone Hope is an acquired taste whose simpleton persona wears thin fast. Martin was never much of an actor but is a fine singer although he oddly does little of that. Rosemary is also underused only getting a few numbers. The supporting cast contains both Fred Clark and William Demarest both of whom add a little zest to the proceedings. Certainly colorful and not terrible it's not very memorable either.
