Matthew Roe Film Threat 02/13/2019
3/10
Hex does have a few tidbits going for it, and an always-interesting premise and time period, yet it ultimately undermines all the good that is wrung out of its stale tale. Go to Full Review

12/26/2020 I honestly didn't know what to think of it at first, but by the middle I was thoroughly engrossed in it. I love the subject matter; it reminded me a little of Robert Eggars' The Witch from 2015, but even with a lower budget, the filmmakers' love for their work makes this a standout. The cinematography was exquisite; the score was haunting (I can still hear it!); the costuming perfect; ditto the set design. When a film makes you feel as though you have crossed over into their story, you know you've got something. And finally, the Story, the Direction and the Acting (The three primary actors were oscar-worthy in my opinion) are all A+! Outstanding work, I'm only upset it took me this long to find it (on Roku, thank you!). Hope to see more from this entire team in the future, especially if its another period-piece. Once again--Perfect. See more 10/20/2020 Incredible and both actors will not be unknown for long. Midway through, you get whiffs of Blair Witch. 3/4 way through, the script takes a nosedive. The ending makes you feel robbed of 1.5 hrs. Really good use of tension and you really get a sense of what these characters are fighting for. Well done to all involved. See more william w 04/04/2020 This film surprised me. Although I am guessing a low budget the writer and director did a pretty good job at storytelling. I am an English history fan so was thrilled to find a sci-fi thriller set alongside the English Civil war of the 17th century. But no need to be a history fan to enjoy this film. Loved the cinematography. The director made the most of the locations. Strong acting from the leads. Worth a trip back in time. A great example of good storytelling to keep us on het edge of our seats. Well done. See more Read all reviews
