You have to hand it to Robert Carlyle. One minute he's a lovable unemployed welder taking his kit off, the next he's the most evil man in history. And he's utterly convincing in both roles.

"Hitler: The Rise of Evil is through the eyes of EVIL himself."

The show will immediately enthrawl you into a whirlwind of Fear, anger and disgust because of it's lack of compassion. However there will be no other way of telling the story without provoking human emotions in you. WW2 Has always been a time of Sorrow for the people of Europe, and this short TV series is no different.
Except for 1 thing, instead of onlooking from afar or by a bystander's point of you view, the war and rise of Hitlers Power of Hitler Reich is by himself and his Followers. The attempt of this is not to have pity for the man but a grasp on his Reasoning and what trigger so much hate into someones heart. Kinda like a cautionary tale of 'What happens when people (Good People) do nothing at all but stand aside and let Horrific things unravel.

Not historically accurate, but surprisingly well-done. Worth watching if only for Carlyle's acting.

A totally biased, shallow and unrealistic portrait of Hitler's early life reaching to his attempts to reach presidency... Portrayed by numerous untalented actors ( Except for Liev Schreiber, Peter Stormare and Julianna Margulies). The filmmaker and writer were swept like numerous other attempts to visualize Hitler as the EVIL itself ... However they still tend to portray him with great stupidity and irrationality which confuses anyone with a 1.0 IQ. Why can't they just make a proper portrait for the guy for fuck sake. I'm really getting sick with all this American Anti-Hitler drift that has been flowing massively for the last 3-4 years Valkyrie , Inglorious Bastards, Defiance ...etc. I dunno when the hell this is going to stop .. When will all these hi end production companies stop all this crap about the end of the world, Islamic Terrorists, Nazis and serial killers and start making us some good films?.

Chronicling the life of a once failed artist to a man who is smitten with hate and would later become Chancellor of Germany. Robert Carlyle does an excellent job potraying Adolf Hitler, a man the world would never forgot. This film shows what a man filled with hate is willing to do, and it also shows what happens when good men do nothing.

Profoundly interesting chronicles of Hitler's accession to power picking out bits and pieces of a small, offended lunatic's biography as he evolves into the Third Reich's sick leader. The director primarily manages to escape the cartoonish portrayal of Hitler, Robert Carlyle performance is very good, indeed, and the film is worth every minute of the 2,5 hours of watching.

Almost the perfect film. The three hours just race by and you don't want it to come to an end. Robert Carlyle is great and hones the part of Hitler, close to perfection. Originally made as a TV series for Canadian TV. Also stars a wonderful performance by Mathew Modine and some other strong supporting actors. Just chilling in parts and completely authentic. Simply a must see for anyone interested in WW2 history and captures Adolf's true character and insanity.

It took me a while to recall he was the same guy in Full Monty hehe! one star for his good acting skills otherwise it was quite a bland movie of Hitler

i think this movie is over simplistic and one dimensional. was hitler really a coward in the war? did he really kill his dog for licking someone else's hand?

isn't what exists in the historical record be enough to judge hitler without having to make things up? i get it; he was evil. but, if he were so apparently evil, how were people so blind as to allow him to rise to power?

Three hour long movie that follows the life of Hitler from a boy to his rise to Chancellor of Germany. Some times shows a human side to the monster, but mainly shows what a scum bag he was. Carlyle is perfect in the role of Hilter.

I have watched several Nazi-themed movies that the story of Hitler becomes somewhat cliche. While it is a good interpretation of the Fuhrer's life, it puts too much focus on his relationship with his half-niece Geli Raubal and the Hanfstaengl couple..while his friendships with Heinrich Himmler and Albert Speer were not even mentioned.

Very scary and compelling story of how Hitler came to power. Gives the impression that a lot of people around him were so scared of him that they just let him get on with it. Few that did cross him seemed to give up very shortly or ended up imprisoned for their troubles. It gives an very interesting portrayal of his relationship with his niece one which I've never encountered in a Hitler movie before. Worth viewing, even if your just curious to see how Robert Carlyle pulls off the role of Adolf Hitler.

No other project could so faithfully and frighteningly reproduce the twisted mind of Adolf Hitler and Germany in the 30's.
