Movie Info

Unlucky in life and love, quirky waitress Trudie (Melissa Joan Hart) takes the holidays -- and the law -- into her own hands. Unable to brave Christmas with her family as a single woman, Trudie kidnaps restaurant customer David Martin (Mario Lopez) and introduces him to her family as her boyfriend. Unable to escape the family vacation house, David agrees to play along until the police arrive. In the meantime, however, David ponders his own romantic life, and questions if he is falling in love with Trudie despite the unlikely circumstances.

Audience Reviews for Holiday in Handcuffs

I enjoyed it! Yes, it was predictable, but it took me back to my Saved by the Bell and Clarissa Explains it All days. Something worth watching at Christmas time!

Film 13 with 17 to go. This was a great funny film until we get to the last 30 minutes, when the director felt he had to throw in the crap that pledges US Hollywood movies and TV today. This movie could have been just as good to leave these parts out. A shame that anything that shows Christian values doesn't get the airtime that these type movies. So it went from 5 stars to 2 1/2 stars.

Enjoyed. Totally unrealistic, (of course!), but a nice feel good Christmas movie. Had a bit more too it than the usual tv movie, more defined characters and a good story. Quite funny too, and relatable with the family stuff. Melissa is a always very likeable and not afraid to be unglamorous at times, (that perm at the beginning. Ouch!). It's not the best movie I ever saw, but if it's a happy ending Christmas story you want, then this is a good one.
