An Italian ripoff of Last House on the Left, that goes so far as to even steal the lead actor from that film. It's clear they were trying to cash in on that films success, but somehow this movie ends up being kind of better. In a way, it's a study of class separation, and not a pretty one. It kind of gives you more to chew on.
great movie reminds me of last house on the left
If you review this film without having seen the the uncut version, then you are not cool.
Riding the lucrative gravy train of cheap horror movies with the word 'House' in the title, House On The Edge Of The Park, perhaps unsurprisingly, sucks. I watched Last House On The Left just last year, and it was a huge disappointment, having built up a savage reputation that completely exceeded its actual quality. In the case of this film, it had no real expectations to live up to, but I was still underwhelmed. It has a seriously weak plot, substandard acting, flat characterisation and spends much of its duration trying desperately to stall for time, with numerous protracted scenes which contribute precisely nothing. Radice turns in a somewhat sympathetic performance, but it's not worth sitting through this boring, plodding mess to witness it.
Like a 1980 Funny Games.
When I picked it up in CeX and bought it. When I watched it it was like fucking porn no deaths in it it's mostly filled with rape and sex it was the cut version of Vipco's scream time collection that I got, I dread to think what the Uncut Version is like don't buy this film it's full of Nudity which some men like but i did not like it VIPCO have done a more worser film than Camp Blood I'm not impressed :-(
Plays like an even sleazier version of Last House on the Left (even stealing one of it's stars!), this is a grotty film with no likeable characters and a ridiculous twist
This is an extremely violent and disturbing film. It makes me wonder why movies such as this were ever made - is it to taunt our willingness to face blood and gore or our desperation to escape reality by looking at something so awful? I just simply wish I didn't waste my time watching it.
Wonderful exploitation movie from the 80's. David Hess is brilliant...savage, ugly, and nasty, compared to the refined elevated nature of the upper class.
This movie has elements of Last House on the Left, Funny Games, even Le Diner du con. There is lots going on, although many scenes are David Hess making everyone sit down while people stare.
The direction that Deodato uses is quite good, and tells a great story, and keeps the story interesting, despite many slow moments of standing around.
The soundtrack is also very good, and really helps set the mood. The house on the edge of the park is a great war of the classes, as well as a classic revenge tale.
Ive no idea why I put this in my queue some weeks? ?months? ago, maybe cuz it was from the director of cannibal holocaust, but whatever the reason i deeply regret it, its just another home invasion movie, it adds nothing, its fucking stupid, it drags despite being only 90 min, the dubbing laughable, and the final "reveal" retarded, the only bright spot was riz ortolanis score and songs, which was also the best part of cannibal holocaust, which at least had good gore effects, theres pretty much no reason to see this movie.
