Movie Info

Christian Eklow and Christopher Panov's romantic comedy The Dog Trick stars Linus Wahlgren. Simon (Wahlgren) is a single man in his late twenties who spends much of his free time watching Hollywood romantic comedies. His friend Micke (Alexander Skarsgård) suggests that if Simon goes to the park and stands near a cute dog he will attract women. The plan seems to work perfectly when he strikes up a relationship with Mia (Josephine Bornebusch), but maybe not for the reasons he and his friend thought it would. This Swedish film is a feature-length remake of a short film made by the two directors.

Audience Reviews for Hundtricket the Movie

Being a swede myself, experience has long since told me that swedish comedies are often of uninspired nature and seldom laugh-out-loud funny. To my great surprise and enjoyment, however, this movie was a pleasant exception, that rekindled my hope for this genre altogether. The dialogue felt comfortably natural and the jokes were pretty much spot on, which was supported by the fact that the actors really put some energy into their roles. The characters in turn felt incredibly genuine, as it was easy to relate to them and their hauntingly familiar behavior. Moreover, don't be fooled by its "chick-flick" appearance on the dvd cover, because I'd say it works just as well for both guys and girls. My final rating for this movie is therefore a chiefly positive one, as it proved that swedish comedy still has its proud moments. And for that I'm very thankful.
