Critic Reviews for I
Vikram delivers a knockout three-pronged performance, but this cinematic bravura is offset by underdeveloped scripting, flatly one-dimensional villains and overdone lone-hero-vs.-swarms-of-murderous-attackers setpieces.
"I" is exuberant and unselfconscious but too cartoonish to engage your emotions.
Kung fu battles with Chinese BMX gangsters? Check. A woman transforms into a cell phone/motorcycle/TV set/bunch of bean curd/fish? Check.
Clearly, there is no greater crime in Shankar's universe than to be poor, ugly and unfit.
The only high point of Shankar's I is Vikram's enthralling performance, first as a rustic body builder and later as a disfigured hunchback.
