The broken Jonas is not an easy character to like and his self-loathing is in danger of alienating us as much as it does the characters he interacts with. That said, it is a committed and convincing portrait by [Felix] Maritaud.

Through half of this film, I was just so so about it. Then, I figured out how the two storylines came together and really appreciated it. The themes of shame and mourning are poignant.

I can't stop thinking about this film. A heartbreaking yet hopeful tale of a troubled young man, "looking for something that doesn't exist." A story of two high school boys in love and what happens internally to Jonas when tragedy occurs and ho perfw he has taken that pain and shame with him into adulthood. The ending is subtly beautiful. The performances are stunning especially from the two leads.
