Carlos Saldanha's mix of race-against-time action and eco-friendly propaganda is actually an improvement on the original, not least for giving its funniest character -- acorn-hunting rodent Scrat -- a lot more to do.

This might be an interesting take, but the plot of this film should have been the plot of the first film. Don't get me wrong, I liked the first film more, but this movie felt like a proper Ice Age movie. If these sequels never happened, my score for the first movie might be a bit higher. But knowing there are FIVE films (boutta be six), that scares me a little. Still, thought this was an overall solid film!

Ice age 2 is the same to Ice age 1 to me all the meltdown scenes and pacing are kinda quite good the new characters crash and Eddie are okay and Ellie is a good love for manny the animation is way tolerable then the first and the new scrat moments are funny to the first overall it’s a good sequel 3.5/5

Decent sequel isn’t particularly compelling, but adds new things to the franchise. The Meltdown isn’t a great film by any means, but as an Ice Age sequel, it works well enough. It introduces new characters while expanding the scope and size of the universe, while also actually having a premise centered around the Ice Age. But, once again, nothing too terribly deep or insightful is at play here, there are far too many subplots going on here, and the story is once again pretty basic. It’s a decent time with some fun characters.
