A fine film with a Masterpiece Theater aura about it and done with the same artistic hand as Foyle's War, Endeavor...) despite the timeline and social time (mores). The English are in their own world buys tripping over their good manners, politeness, and other social niceties while killers roam the beautiful countryside. This is not only a good film but an especially good insight into the early career of Daniel Craig, now a mega-star (see his work in another surprising good early work "Flashbacks of a Fool". No one would ever guess that he once had a brogue thicker than porridge. Great mystery writer, Ms. Walters, will read/see her other work.
Great movie. Superb acting, particularly Daniel Craig and Kitty Aldridge. Well worth watching.
Excellent adaptation of Minette Walters' first novel. A good mystery but even better as a psychological study and social critique. Daniel Craig gives an excellent performance as a troubled cop.
