Critics Consensus: I'm Gonna Git You Sucka puts a satirical spin on '70s nostalgia with a comedy whose somewhat scattershot laughs are often offset by pure energetic silliness.

In many respects this is a black counterpart to The Naked Gun, and very nearly as funny; the bounty of antimacho gags is both unexpected and refreshing.
The greatest pleasure comes from seeing '70s veterans send themselves up.
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka is a lively but uncertain mixture of nostalgia, silliness and genuinely unpredictable humor.
Although, like all good satires, it is cheerfully willing to be offensive, it is almost completely incapable of being funny.
Wayans' choosing to play romantic lead seems more narcissistic than smartly comic (watch him unleash those built biceps once too often); he lacks an unidentifiable shtick.
It's not that Wayans lacks wit, it's that he's stomped it to death.
There's so much energy in this satire, that you can't help laughing at its bawdy charm. Clumsy, irreverent, adolescent, yes. And often very funny.
Keenan Ivory Wayans offers his fan base probably the only funny film he's ever directed.
Unrelenting, unremitting, a brilliant broad-brush of a parody.
In offering up this affectionate parody of the old movies, Wayans also turns a satiric eye on black culture in general -- but in an inoffensive, lighthearted manner.
You'll need to visit a doctor after it....to put back together your split-sides!
Keenen Ivory Wayans' best film ever.
Spoofing blacksploitation films just seems like a risky game in the first place, but when you have a great cast and a hilarious script to go along with it, you are on a one-way street. Lead by the very talented Keenan Ivory Wayans, this film follows Jack Spade after he returns home to find out his younger brother has died from an overdose of Gold Chains. The plot just goes off on a tangent from there, but the ridiculousness is enough to keep you extremely entertained. I loved watching this film and laughing at each scenario that presented itself to the characters. This parody is not one to miss if you are a fan of this genre. In the 80's, parodies were at their peak, and this one is another home run. Although some of the jokes feel easy and a few seem redundant, I can forgive all of that, due to the films effortless humour. "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" is great fun!
Super Reviewer
This is an hilarious spoof comedy movie with great actors, I really liked it, and I highly recommend it.
Keenan my Man! This Movie has to be one of the Silly and Funniest Movies I have ever seen. Why wouldnt it be, Keenan never dissapoints me.
There are no words to describe just how amazing this film is. It salutes respectfully the blaxploitation era and the actors, with a clever hint of satire ( whereby the baddie is a White rich man, keeping black people down..) but most importantly it has the best jokes I have ever seen - just remembering Issac Hayes putting all those guns in his pockets then tripping and being shot to death by ALL his own guns, brings a tear to my eye. Fantastic. Please go see this film, I just happened to perchance the film, with my Mum and sister late one night on TV, and I really wanna buy it, but I don't know where it would still sell.If anyone does know please post it in the comments. Cheers
