The Living Sea seems reluctant to look very deeply into anything, as if afraid of testing its audience's patience. But it takes less patience to look at one interesting thing deeply than many interesting things hardly at all. Go to Full Review

Like a soothing, too-brief vacation, "The Living Sea" takes us to the spectacle of the sea and its residents. Go to Full Review

05/19/2010 The movie "The Living Sea" is a movie about our incredible ocean. I personally liked the movie, but it only included things good about the ocean, but in reality, would people protect the ocean because it is beautiful or because we get so many resources from it? The movie is mostly about the rich and beautiful ocean. Reality check: most companies aren't recycling to save the ocean, but to save their profit and their resources, so the movie is basically saying & quote by Roger Ebert "The Sea is really big, and really neat -- see?" The movie's picture quality was good, but some scenes were cut off, like when the Coast Guard was crashing through the wave trying to rescue "Oscar", the rescue dummy, the scene cut off, so nobody saw him being rescued, unless you sat through the credits, where is showed "Oscar" being rescued in suspiciously calmer water, even though he was supposedly rescued in the same hour as he was thrown in. The movie was too repetitive, telling us that "The Ocean is big, the ocean is strong, and the ocean is pretty". It shows things about lots of things, not at all related to marine conservancy, but suddenly in the end, it says "We must protect the sea!" The movie jumps around too much, but it was and Ok film. I would rate it a 4 out of 10. See more Read all reviews
