Movie Info

The British ensemble piece In the Name Of takes a direct plunge into the dark heart of London's sex and drug underground, by intersecting the stories of several intertwined friends and lovers who are deeply (and collectively) implicated in corrupt behavior. Hon (Ata Ali) is employed as a bouncer at a gentleman's club populated by lap dancers, and takes judo classes on the side. Her boyfriend, David (Guy Fearon) trains with her, but soon reveals a conniving and unfaithful side when he accepts an offer to help pop star Ona (Melissa Collier) learn judo for her new music video - and promptly strikes up a torrid affair with her. Meanwhile, Jude (Laurel Andrews), a lap-dancer at the club, struggles with heavy cocaine use as she privately prostitutes herself; inside, however, she buckles under the weight of disgust and gives some thought to dropping out of the whoring racket. Conflict escalates when a pair of shady diamond entrepreneurs approach two of the women to promote a company that traffics in illegally-obtained African gems, and Hon discovers David's infidelity. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
