Critic Reviews for In The Dark Half
Siddons maintains a threatening atmosphere and crafts suggestively with silence.
A little more invention and Siddons might have created a cult smash. Instead, we're left using words like "promise" and "potential".
Well played and creepy, if a little plodding in plot and pacing, it promises better things ahead from director Alastair Siddons.
As a calling card for director Alastair Siddons, it's polished and impressive. As an experience, it requires slightly more patience than it consistently rewards.
Audience Reviews for In The Dark Half
Atmospheric but confused, this strange hybrid of mysticism, suburbia and grief has an unusual winter colour pallet, some fantastic sound design and a couple of good performances. It reminded me in places of Wake Wood, Admissions, Lucky McKee's The Woods and Session 9, which probably makes it sound more derivative than it actually is. The promise of good things to come from the director.
