Honest and diligent Police Inspector Indrajeet's (Amitabh Bachchan) life takes a turn for the worse, when he must arrest Din Dayal (Saeed Jaffrey), who is the father of Shanti (Jaya Pradha), the girl he loves and intends to marry, thus souring their relationship, when she openly defends her father, and as a result Indrajeet is transferred, and Din Dayal's arrest is overturned. Years later, Indrajeet has retired and is now looking after his adopted daughter, Neelu (Neelam). Neelu loves Vijay (Kumar Gaurav), and Indrajeet arranges their marriage, only to have the couple killed by his enemies. Since the police are of no help, he decides to avenge their deaths on his own, and then he finds out that as one of the assailants is Ajit (Ajit Pal), the younger brother of Shanti.
